French Camps: Grades 4-6

Bienvenue! Our French Language Learning Camps are the perfect opportunity for tweens who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025 to learn French in a fun, hands-on environment. Each week, campers will explore a new French-speaking country through interactive projects, cultural experiences, and language lessons that will make French come alive! From art and music to cooking, history, science, and geography, each day will be filled with exciting, developmentally appropriate activities designed to help your child build confidence and skills in French. Each week includes a field trip in Washington, DC, to connect what they’re learning to the world around them.

Session 1: June 16-20

(no camp June 19)

Weekly Theme: Canada

Bonjour, Montréal! This week, we’ll take a journey to the French-speaking region of Québec in Canada. Campers will learn about the mix of French and Canadian cultures, make Québécois maple taffy, try French-Canadian dishes like poutine, and practice Canadian folk dances. The field trip will be to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where we’ll explore art inspired by both French and North American traditions.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 2: June 23-27

Weekly Theme: Switzerland

C'est l'aventure en Suisse! Switzerland is famous for its stunning Alpine landscapes, world-class watches, and delicious chocolate. This week, campers will explore Swiss geography, design their own Swiss-style watches, make Swiss chocolate fondue, and learn about Swiss neutrality in history. The field trip will be to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where we’ll explore mountain ecosystems and geology.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025.

Weekly Theme: Haiti

Haiti offers a unique blend of Caribbean culture, art, and history. Campers will explore the vibrant world of Haitian art, learn traditional Haitian music, and try their hand at making Haitian joumou soup. They will learn about the unique blend of Haitian Creole and French spoken in Haiti. Due to the abbreviated week, there will be no field trip.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 4: July 7-11

Weekly Theme: France

La Belle Vie! Explore the iconic culture of France—from the Eiffel Tower to delicious pastries! Campers will learn about French art, make their own mini Eiffel Towers, try their hand at French cooking with croquembouche, and discover the beauty of French music and dance. The field trip this week will be to the National Gallery of Art, where we’ll explore French artists like Monet, Renoir, and Cézanne and make art inspired by these grand masters.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025.

Weekly Theme: Belgium

Gaufres, et châteaux, au chocolat, galore! Campers will immerse themselves in the culture of Belgium, known for its chocolates, waffles, and rich history. We'll learn about Belgian artists like René Magritte, create Belgian-inspired art, and explore the story of medieval castles and the country’s role in world history. 

The field trip this week will be to the National Building Museum, where we’ll explore engineering and architecture, and create our own Belgian-inspired structures. 

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 6: July 21-25

$500 - Camp Only
$725 - Camp & Extended Day 

 

Weekly Theme: Senegal

This week, we’ll travel to Senegal in West Africa, where French is widely spoken. Campers will explore Senegal’s rich traditions in music, dance, and art. They will create traditional African art pieces, learn drumming rhythms, and cook Senegalese dishes like thieboudienne. The field trip will be to the National Museum of African Art, where we’ll learn more about the artistic traditions of Africa and their influence on the world.
