Spanish Camps: Grades 4-6

Bienvenidos! Our Spanish Language Learning Camps are the perfect opportunity for tweens who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025 to learn Spanish in a fun, hands-on environment. Each week, campers will explore a new Spanish-speaking country through interactive projects, cultural experiences, and language lessons that will make Spanish come alive! From art and music to cooking, history, science, and geography, each day will be filled with exciting, developmentally appropriate activities designed to help your child build confidence and skills in Spanish. Each week includes a field trip in Washington, DC, to connect what campers are learning to the world around them.

Session 1: June 16-20

(no camp June 19)

Weekly Theme: Mexico

Viva La Fiesta! Explore the colorful culture of Mexico, famous for its vibrant traditions, rich history, and delicious food. Campers will create their own Mexican folk art, try their hand at making tacos, learn Mexican dances like the salsa, and explore ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures. Our field trip will be to the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, where we'll learn about the indigenous cultures of the Americas.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 2: June 23-27

Weekly Theme: Colombia

Travel to Colombia to experience its vibrant culture, rich biodiversity, and famous coffee. Campers will create colorful carnival masks, make Colombian arepas, and learn about the country’s stunning landscapes. Our field trip will be to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, where we'll explore the ecosystems and wildlife of Colombia.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025.

Weekly Theme: Argentina

Explore Tango, Gauchos, and the Pampas. This week, campers will dive into Argentina’s beautiful landscapes, history, and music. Learn to dance the tango, make empanadas, and explore the country’s gaucho culture. We’ll also study Argentina’s unique geography, from the Andes to the Pampas. Due to the abbreviated week, there will not be a field trip.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 4: July 7-11

Weekly Theme: Spain

From Flamenco to Gaudí, campers will discover the art, architecture, and traditions of Spain. We’ll learn the basics of Flamenco dancing, create our own Picasso-inspired art, and cook traditional Spanish dishes like paella. The week’s field trip will be to the National Gallery of Art, where we’ll explore Spanish artists and their works.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

Weekly Theme: Costa Rica

Pura Vida! Costa Rica is known for its incredible rainforests, wildlife, and commitment to conservation. Campers will create rainforest dioramas, learn about local animals like sloths and monkeys, and cook Costa Rican gallo pinto. The week’s field trip will be to the Smithsonian National Zoo, where we’ll observe the animals of Central America. 

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.

 

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 4-6 in the Fall of 2025. 

Session 6: July 21-25

$500 - Camp Only
$725 - Camp & Extended Day 

 

Weekly Theme: Peru

Explore ancient civilizations and the Andes. Campers will explore the ancient Inca civilization, famous for Machu Picchu, and explore the natural beauty of the Andes. Campers will design their own Inca-inspired crafts, learn about ancient Peruvian astronomy, and make Peruvian dishes like picarones, a Peruvian donut. Our field trip will be to the Smithsonian Institution’s African Art Museum, where we’ll compare ancient Peruvian art to African art traditions.

All camp programming includes indoor and outdoor play, general camp activities like games, art, sports, nature exploration, and a once-weekly trip to the pool.
